Wrap your Legend Text to Avoid the Scroll Bar Blues

Legend Scroll Bar Blues:  When legend symbology labels are long, they extend past the edge of the Legend area and require a horizontal scroll-bar to view.

The Good News:   You can control legend text wrapping by inserting a pipe character, |, where you would like the text to wrap.

Note:  This trick only works for legend class text, not layer names or descriptions.   The wrapping of layer description text in the Legend will vary, depending on the longest class in the currently displayed layers.

So, if all of your long class names have been wrapped, there will be no need for a Legend scroll bar and all layer names and legend text will fit inside the standard size Legend box.  Bye-bye Scroll Bar Blues.

Techie Details:
The symbol classes in ERMA are rendered by MapServer via the mapfile which is generated by ERMA based on the entries in the various web forms you use to set symbology and layer options.  MapServer has a couple parameters which control text wrapping for the legend:  WRAP and MAXLENGTH.   Currently, ERMA has the setting:  WRAP '|', and there is no MAXLENGTH for internal WMS layers.
